The course aims to learn presenting/expressing idea by learning communication theories from classical rhetoric in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy along with composition studies. There are lots of discussion opportunities among international students from all over the world and students from Tokyo Tech, no matter where they are from, west or east, they think together as classmates about interesting topics on Japanese nature and culture. Furthermore, students learn basics of research integrity from global perspectives and become able to express ideas in their own words for the better society, science and technology in the future.

The classes will include self-introduction, lectures and practice of solicitating idea/writing, discussions of Japanese nature and culture, workshop of writing-work creation and presentation. Communication among local students, international students will be supported by the instructor.

Class 5 | Reading picture books in Japan | Research on picture books in Japan and introduce your favorite one in your essay. |
Class 6 | Disaster prevention learned after 3.11 | Write one-page and hand-written essay regarding the role of engineering to reduce the effect of natural disaster providing an example. |
