Course description and aims

This course aims to deepen students' understanding of the actual systems of Japanese companies and industries through a series of lectures given by professional company staff and study tours.
Japanese company engineers or administrators will give six lectures on O-okayama campus regarding working environment, company culture and required communication/language skills. Study tours to an incineration plant in Tokyo, and factories in Kanto area are also scheduled.
Attendance is required at the briefing session and, at least three lectures and two study tours.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. deepen their understanding on the Japanese industry and social system
2. understand the working environment, culture and required communication/language skills of several organizations/companies in Japan
3. understand the actual technical systems of Japanese companies and public organizations

Class flow

This course consists of three study tours and six lectures.
Student attendance is expected at the briefing session, at least three lectures and two study tours. .

Class 2 Lecture 1: April 17 (Wed) 15:30-17:00 by a staff of Japan International Agency (JICA) at Room H136 Details will be given in each class

Class 8 Study Tour 1: May 8 (Wed.) 13:10-16:30 Visit to Shibuya Incineration Plant: We will go there by train. Gather at the entrance of O-okayama station at 13:10.
