Course description and aims

Modern human society faces a number of global threats. Because of this, highly specialized, academic individuals are required to lead global pioneering research and development (R&D) projects or programs, collaborating with a variety of stakeholders in various social fields, in order to solve specific social problems beyond their own academic specialties. This course comprises three parts: the first cultivates dialogical thinking; the second helps students to understand the importance of interactive communications; the third focuses on designing a creative concept and project proposal.

This course aims to help students, as candidates for global leaders in the future, to acquire basic abilities to communicate with others, to think logically, to express themselves, to design project proposals, etc.

Student learning outcomes

This course is designed to strengthen the following abilities in each part:
Fundamental of Dialogical Thinking: Engaging in dialogues on self-motivated topics, deepening understanding and consideration of the topic , and presenting views to others logically
Fundamental of Interactive Communications: Presenting your research (ideas) to people in various fields, and getting feedback
Fundamental of Concept and Project Design: Designing a creative concept and project for helping your development of abilities, and presenting it in a convincing way

The three criteria for evaluation:
Reflection report assigned in Part1: 20%, Two essay writings: 50%, Report of a group project: 30%

Prerequisites (i.e., required knowledge, skills, courses, etc.)

Although this course is one of the compulsory subjects for those who intend to apply for the “Academy for Global Leadership (AGL) Program”, all Master-PhD candidates are welcome.
This course is also open for students who have already taken "Fundamentals of Humanities A or B".
