Course description and aims

This course provides an overview of the rules of society and business that will significantly affect the students' careers in industry as leaders after completion of the doctoral degree program. Students will learn an overview of various rules such as intellectual property rights, standards, compliance, ethics, risk management, and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), as well as consider and discuss specific cases.

The aim of this course is to make students understand that they need to take the initiative in formulating social and business rules when building their careers in industry, rather than being passively subjected to them. The awareness to develop rules by one's initiative is essential to achieve innovation in the real world in cooperation with those who do not specialize in technology.
Students are expected not only to acquire relevant knowledge, but also to regard the content of the lecture as their own personal issues, and to consider how it will be specifically valuable/applicable to their own future career development.
Classes are delivered in Japanese, so students should have Japanese language skills enough to understand the content of the classes.

This course is classified as a "livestream" with direct teaching by Zoom. Therefore, students are required to attend every lecture in real time. If students are unable to attend regularly due to other activities such as laboratory seminars or other lectures, do not take this course.

This course will be offered in 2Q (B)and 4Q (D). Since the contents are the same, students are advised to select the course according to their own study plan.
