Course description and aims

This course is a fundamental course in which master's students learn a comprehensive and condensed set of basic knowledge and skills that will be of practical use in building their future careers as well as in their job-hunting. This course corresponds to all career paths, including advancement to the doctoral course and entering private companies after completion of the master's degree program. The content of the course covers social rules, ethics, the flow of money in companies and universities, and entrepreneurship, and how to build a career in industry and academia which can be efficiently understood from a broader perspective.
The goal of the course is for students not only to acquire relevant knowledge, but also to regard the content of the lecture as their own personal issues, and to consider how it will be specifically valuable/applicable to their own future career development.
Classes are given by faculties and lecturers who have rich practical experience in central government offices, universities and private companies.
Classes are delivered in Japanese, so students should have Japanese language skills enough to understand the content of the classes.

This course is classified as a "livestream" with direct teaching by Zoom. Therefore, students are required to attend every lecture in real time. If students are unable to attend regularly due to other activities such as laboratory seminars or other lectures, do not take this course.

Prior to taking the course, please make sure that you have downloaded the latest version of the Zoom application. (Avoid connecting with browsers such as Chrome as it may be unstable or have limited functionality.) To maintain your concentration, the connected device is preferable to be the one with a larger display, such as a PC, and tablet.

In order to avoid being unable to attend lectures in real time once a class starts due to a poor communication environment, prior to taking the course, students must ensure an Internet environment with a speed of 600 kbps/1.2 Mbps (upload/download) or higher, without worrying about data volume during lecture time.

Three courses are offered in the 1Q (A1, A2, A3), one in the 2Q (B), and one in the 3Q (C). Students are recommended to select one according to their own study plans.

Students who have already taken "Master's Career Design", "Master's Career Plan", "Master's Career Design I", and "Master's Career Design II", which had been offered until AY2020, cannot take this course.
