Course description and aims

As a training course primarily directed at D1 and D2 students, the students will learn best teaching practices by attending a lecture by professors in teaching and doing mock classes by themselves.
This training course mainly targets D1 and D2 students who have a career plan to pursue an academic position like a professor in the near future.

Student learning outcomes

The goal of this training course is for the students to experience teaching practices, including mock classes by themselves, and learn teaching skills by attending lectures by professors in teaching.

Class flow

This training course consists of the following parts: The first is to attend a lecture on teaching skills, a model lecture, and so on. The second one is two mock classes by each doctoral student: One is to give high-school students a lecture on the research being done by each student, and the other is to provide first-year university students with a lecture related to basic science.
All the students will receive the information on Zoom URLs, can download instructors' lecture materials, and can upload their reports through T2SCHOLA.

Class 4 July 14 (Friday), 12:25-14:05, Tokyo Tech High School of Science and Technology Actual mock lecture at a high school (Noriyuki Kouchi, Kazuo Shinozaki, and Hidekazu Tanaka)
Class 5 July 21 (Friday), 5-8 period, Zoom Mock lecture to university students (Noriyuki Kouchi and Hidekazu Tanaka) Preparation of PPT files for the mock lecture.

1) International students can take this training course under the condition of having a Japanese-language ability at an N1 level in the Japanese language proficiency test (JLPT).
2) It is not possible to take the training course in duplicate.
3) Doctoral students cannot register for this course within six months after doctoral program enrollment.
