As a training course of the Academic Leaders Program (ALP) primarily targeted at D1 and D2 students, these lectures will cover career design strategies for future scientists and professionals working either in academia or industry.
The prospects of an international career will be discussed based on some particularities of the work and research environments in diﬀerent countries, and suggestions will be given about practical ways of starting on this career path.
The goal of this intensive lecture series is to provide the students an overview of new trends in science and technology and the related career perspectives, speciﬁcally in a global environment. Students will learn how to explore prospective career paths, how to develop professional networking skills, and how to cope with challenges in the workplace. With a focus on international career development, the lectures willprovide useful tips for students planning to pursue research at an overseas institute as well as at R&D departments of private companies and in academia.

This will be a 7-hour class that will include a lecture, short class activity, and open discussion. The lecture will tackle several topics including techniques and skills development; enhancement of communication and interpersonal skills; and coping with challenges in the workplace.
Classes will be given intensively within a single week, at Ookayama campus, by instructors with different specialized area.

・As a practice of career path exploration, a short class activity will be done. The latter part of the class will be devoted to some open discussions for personal assessment, career experiences, and career accomplishments. (HBGonzales’ class)
