Course description and aims

The aim of this course is to help students learn how to gather information about job hunting in Japan. In addition, students are expected to conduct self-analysis and think about their own career path. Online classes will be streamed live via Zoom, and the instructor will check each student's progress individually during the class.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) gather information about job hunting;
2) conduct self-analysis;
3) express their motivation for the job or the company they are applying for in Japanese;
4) draw up their curriculum vitae in Japanese.

Class flow

Students are expected to focus on mutual task activities in the classroom. Students are also expected to work on assignments in groups, and to share information. Lectures will be conducted by the instructor if necessary, and the instructor will provide feedbacks during writing and presentation sessions. The instructor will also ensure students' learning through after-class assignments and group discussion.

Class 2 Job hunting in Japan Find out about job hunting in Japan in a group.
Class 3 Job hunting in Japan Present what you have researched as a group.
Class 4 Self-analyze Summarize your past and present until you choose your major.
Class 5 Self-analyze & Company-analyze Research the job you want to do and the company that can make it happen.
Class 6 Motivation Write a motivation composition.
Class 7 Curriculum vitae Write a curriculum vitae.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes each for preparing for and reviewing each class (including the time spent for assignments) by referring to textbooks and other course materials.
