Course description and aims

This class aims to improve listening and presentation skills in Japanese and increase vocabulary for university life.
Listening: Understand the TV news, searching for the keywords. Discuss the contents. Summarize it or write your opinion on it in each class.
Mini-speech/presentation: make a presentation "My news" using the expressions and the structure of the latest TV news.
Kanji: we will learn two lessons of kanji practice from the intermediate kanji textbook with small quizzes in the following classes. (minimum pass mark 80%, if you fail, you must take a make-up exam.)

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) understand the TV news and summarize the content, 2) explain your opinion about the news, 3) acquire the vocabulary for university life.

In each class, first, students will study the expressions and the structure of news. and watch the TV news and discuss the contents. In the end, it is required to write a summary or an opinion as homework.
