Text materials will be provided to students in the class. (The materials are actually written by German-speaking people and are relatively plain. Grammar and vocabulary that are not learned in beginner classes are annotated.) Students will listen to the commentary, translate German sentences into Japanese, and submit a Japanese translation. In the next class, the instructor will show an example of translation, explain the points of reading. We will consider the substance of the text together.

Through texts actually written by German-speaking people, you will understand grammar and absorb written expressions. Use beginner textbooks and reference books to review basic grammar. When you read the German-Japanese dictionary, please keep an eye on all example sentences.

A German-Japanese dictionary is necessary in every class.
Based on all submissions, the instructor will evaluate the accuracy of students' translations and reading comprehension(60%). The results of exercises during the class (e.g., pronunciation) are also evaluated (40%).
Students require the elementary knowledge of German grammar. The enrollment in the "German: Basic Course 1-4" is desirable. Students will review their basic knowledge of German grammar in the class.
