There are two kinds of classes in English 9: “English 9 without class attendance” and “English 9 for repeaters”. This class is “English 9 for repeaters”, for those who have not been able to achieve or exceed the English 9 minimum required score set by Tokyo Tech. By attending this class they work towards obtaining the credit.
By offering TOEFL-style exercises, this class aims at comprehensively improving students’ English skills, expanding their vocabulary and strengthening their knowledge of grammar.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
・ expand their vocabulary and improve their knowledge of grammar.
・ attain comprehensive general English proficiency.

The grade takes into account both the TOEFL or TOEIC score achieved and work done in class. The grades awarded are either “pass” or “fail”. Further details will be explained at the orientation.
This is a course for students who began their degree in or after April 2016.
Students MUST attend one of the orientation sessions in the first week of the quarter. See the notice board on the third floor, West 3 Building, Ookayama Campus, for further details.
