This course trains students, who are interested in studying abroad for a year or longer, in listening and speaking skills. The course introduces students to a number of skills such as note-taking, presentation, and debate, which enable them to understand lectures and participate in seminars when they study in an English-speaking environment.
- Students are able to understand the outline of the lectures or mini-talks in the listening section of the TOEFL.

- Students are able to make a summary by understanding its organization and the speaker’s approach to the subject.
- Students are able to answer in clear and fluent English to questions asked by their classmates.

We continue to explore various issues using audio lectures, readings, and discussions. Students are expected to study the vocabulary, complete all readings, and come to class prepared for discussion. In addition to improving their listening and speaking skills, students will learn basic skills that are essential for creating and delivering effective presentations.

Class participation: 40%
Evaluation will be based on attitude, contribution, improvement, and a willingness to learn. Absences and late arrivals will result in a lower grade.
