In the world of academic research, peer review is conducted in which researchers read each other's papers, question the quality of the papers, and point out suggestions for improvement. This class aims to acquire the basic knowledge of academic writing skills necessary to conduct such peer reviews, as well as the skills to improve the writer's writing through constructive dialogue (tutoring). In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate in the undergraduate course "Liberal Arts Thesis Project" and practice peer review for undergraduate students. By gaining experience in assisting others in writing their theses, students can in turn make an accurate diagnosis of the clarity of their own writing and acquire the ability to organize their thinking and writing. These skills will be essential for future research activities and teamwork and will be highly effective in helping one another to draw out the best from each other.
The goal of this course is to acquire the following abilities:
- To be able to identify problems in other people's writing based on knowledge of academic writing techniques.
- To develop "independent writers" who can identify problems in their own writing and revise through constructive dialogue.
- To be able to calmly diagnose the logic and clarity of one's own writing and organize one's thoughts during writing.

In the first half of the program, students will be trained in peer review techniques along with academic writing skills. Students will participate in the "Liberal Arts Thesis Project" class as a practical exercise and conduct peer reviews.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterward (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
