This class examines responsible conduct of research (research ethics), which is required for research of science and technology. Specifically, the class focuses on responsible planning and conducting research, and presenting research results, as well as professional ethics of researchers. The purpose of the class is to understand research ethics in order to conduct responsible research conduct on science and technology.
Students are expected to be able to explain 1) what responsible conduct of research is; 2) what responsible planning and conducting research, and presenting research results are; and, 3) what professional ethics of researchers is.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
