Course description and aims

Description
-This course focuses on employing ideas and communication to resolve the diverse issues troubling or improving our contemporary society. Several employees of Hakuhodo provide examples of their latest cases.
-The final outcome will be a "proposal report" that addresses a contemporary social issue.
Aims
-This course gives students numerous opportunities to share and discuss their impressions with other students, and then create their own ideas to resolve social issues.
-This course facilitates students’ ability to recognize a social issue, draw a vision, and make movements to resolve it.

Class flow

This class will be conducted in a live face-to-face format.
The lecturers will be one supervisor and two guests. The class will be conducted through lectures and Q&A sessions, as well as through dialogues among students.
Inquiries can be received through collaboration tools.
Students are asked to submit a comment sheet after class using a tool such as Google Forms.
Information is shared with all participants at any time through T2SCHOLA, such as problem solving and consultation, as needed.

Class 1 Orientation for "Proposal Report" Comprehend the goals of this class. Understand the purpose of the "Self-Proposal Report" and the fieldwork "Life Diary", and prepare for the "Life Diary (1st session)". Submit the "Life Diary (1st)" by the designated due date (9:00 p.m. 5 days after class).
Class 2 (1) Recognize an issue Learn how to ask yourself questions to get noticed from our daily lives. Think and realize connections between social issues and our daily lives. Students will actively participate in a lecture on "Recognizing an issue" and group work using "Life Diary" to prepare for "Life Diary(2nd session)" in which they will deepen their "Recognizing an issue". Submit the "Life Diary (2nd)" by the designated due date (9:00 p.m. 5 days after class).
Class 3 (2) Draw a vision Create an attractive vision in order to resolve the social issues. Think and draw an attractive vision in order to resolve the social issues. Students will actively participate in a lecture on "Drawing a vision" and group work using "Life Diary" to prepare for "Life Diary(3rd session)" in which they will deepen their "Recognizing an issue and Drawing a vision". Submit the "Life Diary (3rd)" by the designated due date (9:00 p.m. 5 days after class).
Class 4 (3) Make a movement Comprehend ideas and action frameworks regarding issues and their solutions. Work together to create ideas and action frameworks regarding issues and their solutions. Students will actively participate in a lecture on "Making a movement" and group work using "Life Diary" to prepare for "Life Diary(4th session)" which is consistent with "Recognizing an issue, Drawing a vision and Making a movement". Submit the "Life Diary (4th)" by the designated due date (9:00 p.m. 5 days after class).
Class 5 Three forces for "Proposal Report" Learn how to create a proposal report using the three forces. Determine the basic direction of the Proposal and prepare to complete the "Self-Proposal Report". Submit the "Self-Proposal Report" by the designated due date (9:00 p.m. five days after class).
Class 6 Submission and sharing of "Proposal Report" Pay attention to presentations and give feedback to each other. Compare and reference your own and others' "Self-Proposal Reports" to identify the possibilities and problems with your proposal. Submit the “Self-Review“ of their own Self-Proposal Report by the specified due date (9:00 p.m. 5 days after class).
Class 7 Reflections and outlook Summarize efforts to address social issues. Understand the meaning and effects of proposing to people the social issues that are latent in their daily lives as "self-questioning", and prepare to work on the "Life Diary (5th)" as a new 1st step. Submit the "Life Diary (5th)" by the designated due date (9:00 p.m. 5 days after class).

Out-of-Class Study Time (Preparation and Review)

In the first class, students should read the textbook in preparation for the course; after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 7th classes, they will make a “Life Diary”; after the 5th class, they will make a “Self-Proposal Report”; after the 6th class, they will make a “Self-Review“ of their own Self-Proposal Report. All should be conducted for approximately 100 minutes each.

Assessment criteria and methods

1.Participation in class : 50%
2.Proposal Report : 50%

Note)

In principle, 89 points will be guaranteed if the following three criteria are met.
39 points, which is the basic point for the "Proposal Report", in addition to 50 points for class participation.

(1) No tardiness, early dismissal, or absence from all classes.
(2) Active participation in class lectures and group work by listening to the speaker and actively participating in the dialogue.
(3) All submissions must meet the submission requirements.

In the following circumstances, points will not be deducted from the participation points.

(1) A stay-at-home order requested by the university. Participation in an official event approved by the university.
(2) Delay in public transportation (a certificate of delay must be submitted).
(3) Other circumstances that make it difficult to complete the course, as approved by the instructor, will result in non-attendance.

If the "Proposal Report" meets the following criteria, points will be awarded in addition to the basic points in the range of 1 to 11 points.

(1) The applicant has taken the lead in conducting specific qualitative or quantitative research or study regarding the implementation and realization of the proposed theme.
(2) The applicant has drawn a roadmap for the realization of the 5-10 year goal indicated in the proposal, and is planning the first step toward that goal, or has already started planning or planning.
(3) The proposal is not based on pre-existing information, theories on the table, or pet theories, but on original discoveries and ideas obtained through trial and error.
