Course description and aims

This course covers various factors of health promotion.
The goal of this course is to facilitate students' understanding of health sciences in humans, and to think the daily health promotion.

Student learning outcomes

Students will be able to understand several factors of health promotion, and based on the concept, explain various health problems and importance of health promotion in modern society.

Class 2 Biological rhythms Identify mechanisms of biological clock and circadian rhythms
Class 3 Lifestyle-related diseases Identify various problems of lifestyle-related diseases in modern society
Class 4 Sleep and health Identify various aspects of sleep problems in modern society; sleep debt, social jetlag, sleepiness, reproductive health
Class 5 Exercise/physical activity and health Identify the relationship between exercise/physical activity and health in modern society
Class 6 Nutrition/diets and health Identify the relationship between nutrition/diets and health in modern society
Class 7 Summary Review and discuss health problem in modern society

Out-of-Class Study Time (Preparation and Review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Assessment criteria and methods

Students' course scores are based on Q&A during class (20pts) and final presentation (80pts).
*Students have to attend more than 5 times to evaluate this course.
