Course description and aims

The aim of this course is to help students acquire an understanding of the basic concepts and principles of qualitative research and their topics, especially, a life worth living, religious faith, and a sense of values. Therefore, students will read textbooks and articles on life history, have discussions and conduct fieldwork.

Student learning outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Obtain basic knowledge about qualitative research.
2) Conduct a small fieldwork.
3) Write a paper.

Class flow

Students will read textbooks and articles on life history and have discussions on the week's subject. Fieldwork is also to be conducted in the class.

Out-of-Class Study Time (Preparation and Review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
