Infrastructures such as road and power plant are necessary for economic growth, however environmental and other negative social impacts must be minimized when investing in such infrastructures for a sustainable society. This course aims to provide the methods necessary to undertake project evaluation and cost benefit analysis based on a microeconomics background, in particular valuing market and non-market goods, and other technical issues. Case studies of various infrastructures are also provided for understanding real world applications.
Students can understand the methods of project evaluation comprehensively. The course provides an opportunity to make a presentation after reading a selected journal paper (in English) to deepen understanding of the methods used for valuing goods.
