“User experience and interaction design” has two objectives. The one is to understand users’ (customers) information environments in elucidating relevant patterns and insights. The other is to identify potential users (customers) and design opportunities in synthesizing appropriate UX & UI design outcomes.
Being a smart user experience and interaction designer requires deep understanding about people and their information environments. Therefore, the user experience and interaction main topics and issues can be condensed with the followings: 1) time, 2) space, 3) people, and 4) objects. In each field study, we will highlight each topical issue in understanding people’s experience and interaction and elucidating the meaningful messages and patterns. Then, we will seek to identify patterns and UX&UI design opportunities.
From this class, you will learn three important things. First, it will give you a lesson of how you can understand users with theoretical foundations and practical techniques. Second, it will give a monumental lesson that you can understand where users are and what they want. Third, it will suggest positive directions of how you can identify a design attitude for being a UX & UI designer.
In order to do this, we will use three major activities in the class: (1) lecture with discussion, (2) in-class exercises and randomly assigned team works, and (3) individual reflection notes. The class lecture sessions are assigned in order to increase your knowledge about the relevant issues. The in-class exercises and team works will characterize how you can productively use specific techniques and tools presented this course. Also, you will build your own UX & UI vocabularies with specific contexts based on your individual reflection notes.

Specialist skills | ✔ Intercultural skills | ✔ Communication skills | Critical thinking skills | ✔ Practical and/or problem-solving skills |
During this class, you will take three reversal roles in between as a user, a researcher, and a designer in order to understand users’ (customers) information environments and synthesize desirable UX & UI design outcomes.
