Course description and aims

This course focuses on the technologies that support the structural safety of wooden buildings. The objective is to learn the basics of seismic design methods for wood structures in Japan.

Student learning outcomes

By taking this course, students will acquire the following abilities.
1) Understand the seismic design methods for wooden buildings in Japan
2) Learn about techniques to enhance the seismic performance of wooden buildings
3) Learn about the significance and methods of using wood in buildings
