This course focuses on research topics on Transport Engineering related to urban environment. This course covers 1) Air pollutant improvement measures analysed by road traffic micro-simulation, 2)Improvement of road space environment for bicycle, pedestrian and LAMAT, 3) Urban Transport environment and Public Transport System in developing countries, 4) Air Transport management System and airport peripheral environment, 5) Safety environment in underground expressway system, 6) Development of railway system, and so on.
This course explains a few research progresses on transport engineering, which are useful to solve the corresponding problems and this course enables students to understand practical-type researches. Likewise, this course gives students a clue of thinking on research agenda before they initiate their own research.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Understand environmental problems related to various transport systems such as road, railway, air transport, airport, bicycle and locally adapted, modified and advanced transport (LAMAT).
2) Motivate themselves for research by understanding the specific research progresses in environmental transport engineering.
3) Explain outlines of analytical tools of environmental transport engineering, such as micro-simulation, driving simulator analysis, observation and statistical analysis, and so on.
