Course description and aims

This course focused on the basic concept of multi-component polymer system (polymer alloys), especially, the phase behavior, thermodynamics, phase separation behavior, morphology control and interface in polymer alloys are explained.
Mixing different polymers is carried out widely to satisfy some requirements. So the polymer alloys are used as practical use materials widely. It is desirable to understand the basic of the essence of polymer alloys and importance of structure design.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to understand:
1)Wide applications of polymer alloys as practical use materials
2)Basic concept of thermodynamics of phase diagram, structure-properties relationship, and control of phase-separated morphology in polymer alloys
3)How does the physical chemistry that students learned as basic knowledge of materials help the concept of this material?

Class flow

Based on uniquely created learning materials, discussion is held with questions thrown in. At the beginning of every lecture, the answers of the quiz from the previous class are explained, and in the latter half students will do a quiz related to that day's lesson.
