Course description and aims

In this course, each student gives a talk on various topics such as his/her research topics, future plans, the culture or nature of the home countries in English. The student must prepare the presentation considering that the scientific and cultural backgrounds of the audience is different. The aim of this course is to give students opportunities to understand one another through the communication.

Student learning outcomes

Student will improve their ability to give presentations in English and will be able to have mutual understandings with other students from other countries. Note that each department has different course numbers for this course.

Class flow

Students give an approx. 15min talk and answer the questions from the audience. Students also take part in the class as audience.

Assessment criteria and methods

(1) The logic of the presentation materials is evaluated by their academic supervisor.
(2) The announcement attitude of the presenters is evaluated by their academic supervisors.
(3) The responses of the presenters to questions from the audience is evaluated by their academic supervisors.
