Course description and aims

This course focuses on body structures of living organisms, nerves and information processing, behavior and intelligence, locomotion, biomimetics, measurement of human movement, systems for sports, welfare and rehabilitation, etc.
Living organisms themselves are very complicated systems. It is indispensable to consider living organisms as systems in order to develop practical systems related to living oeganisms including human beings. This course provides basic knowledge about living organisms as systems, as well as knowledge about practical systems theory related to living organisms.

Student learning outcomes

By completing this course, students will be able to
1) Understand and explain basic knowledge about functions and structures of human and living organisms, such as biomechanics and biological infomation processing.
2) Understand and explain knowledge about practical systems theory such as biomimetics, sports engineering and welfare engineering.
