【Abstract】Functions and properties of nanomaterials strongly depend on their size and structure. Therefore nanoscopic observation methods are indispensable. Recent progress of observation tools made numbers of new discoveries in nanomaterials. To obtain maximum performance of the measurement tools and to avoid errors, method should be well understood and properly selected. In this course, various nano-measurement methods are introduced with application examples.
【Object】 The objective of this course is to understand the nano material and nano-measurement methods, i.e. electron microscopy and low-dimensional materials are explained in the first half of the course and spectroscopic methods, 2D-3D materials, molecular machines in the last half.
【Purpose】 Students acquire basic knowledge of nanoscopic measurement methods through application examples. After the course, students will be able to select proper measurement tools depending on the research purpose.
【Theme】 Special focuses are made on electron microscopy, diffraction, spectroscopic methods. Students will fully understand these tools and will be able to perform the data analysis.
