Course description and aims

This course is intended for students who have practical experiences at organizations such as companies (including those continue to the present). Based on their experiences and achievements in business activities (including those in the past), credits can be approved when the course certifies that they have already acquired the Graduate Attributes (GA) required for doctor course students.
Considering the content of the GA, students with at least five years of practical experience (about 3 years or more in the case of completing a master's course) are allowed to take this course in principle. Even in the case that practical experience is less than five years, students who are considered to have already satisfy the GA can take this course.

Doctoral recurrent program is prepared for each quarter as 1Q: A, 2Q: B, 3Q: C, and 4Q: D. For each quarter, 1 course for 1 credit(Doctoral Recurrent Program 1), 2 courses for 2 credits (Doctoral Recurrent Program 2-1 and 2-2), 1 course for 3 credits (Doctoral Recurrent Program 3), and 1 course for 4 credits (Doctoral Recurrent Program 4). The maximum number of credits that can be acquired is 4 credits in total. It is also possible to acquire a total of 4 credits in Doctoral Recurrent Program 1 and 3, Doctoral Recurrent Program 2-1 and 2-2, and Doctoral Recurrent Program 4.

Student learning outcomes

Student who have practical experiences at organizations such as companies summarize own experiences and achievements based on business activities in a presentation format or document, which can prove that the student has already acquired the GA that a Doctoral course student should meet. Credits can be approved when the academic supervisor and the course evaluate and certify that the achievements are sufficient.

GA0D : You can clearly design your own career and contribute to realizing scientific, technological, or social innovation through a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge, skills, social responsibilities and ethics required to become an active member of academia and/or industry.

GA1D : You can lead in realizing scientific, technological, or social innovation by acquiring the advanced leadership skills, entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and expertise, and by developing social responsibility necessary for materializing your designed career.

Class flow

Based on the experience and achievements of work activities, the students prepare report materials that objectively prove that they have already fulfilled the GA. The student should explain not only what are experiences and achievements, but also specifically how each item of GA0D and GA1D have been acquired based on experiences and achievements. The method of preparing report materials and the number of credits to be obtained should be discussed and determined in advance by consulting with the academic supervisor. The prepared report materials are submitted by the student to the course via the academic supervisor.

・Practical experience in business, etc. within a company
・Results of activities related to standardization (*)
・History in charge of events that can be shown externally
・Presentations at academic conferences (*)
・History of academic activities, executive committee of international conferences, etc.
・Journal and paper writing records (*)
・Reviews and Commentary articles, etc. (*)
・Patent application track record (*)
(*) Do not overlap with other courses.

Based on the evaluation of the submitted report materials, the course certifies whether or not credits can be acquired and the number of credits. After credits have been approved, students register for the course in the most recent quarter, and academic supervisors report grades based on the accreditation.
In addition, if you take this course just before completing the Doctoral course, there may be no quarter remaining to register due to the schedule after being certified in the course. Students who plan to take the course should start early with plenty of time to spare.

Assessment criteria and methods

Based on whether or not it can be objectively confirmed that the specific items of GA0D and GA1D have already been acquired, the report materials prepared by the student based on the experiences and achievements is evaluated by the academic supervisor and the course. The results are discussed in the course, and whether credits can be obtained and the number of credits to be obtained are approved.

Note that this course will not be scored, and will be judged as pass/fail.
