Course description and aims

In the first half of the class, I will summarize recent studies on several topics on subduction-zone dynamics. Then, students will select papers about seismic and volcano-tectonics and present the results in the paper.

Student learning outcomes

Understand seismic heterogeneity in the Earth.

Keywords

subduction zone, earthquakes, volcanoes, magma, fluids, seismic tomography

Competencies that will be developed

Specialist skills Intercultural skills Communication skills Critical thinking skills Practical and/or problem-solving skills

Class flow

Take attendance in every lecture. Students will have presentations during the class.
