This course is mainly targeted at graduate students in the Department of Chemical Science and Engineering. Students can acquire specialized knowledge in polymer chemistry, especially polymer reactions. This course targeted at students who have already taken basic courses related to organic chemistry and polymer chemistry, the instructor lectures about specialized knowledge and cutting edge research related to controlled step-growth polymerization and polymer reactions.
Students get an understanding of specialized knowledge and cutting edge research related to controlled step-growth polymerization and polymer reactions through this course, thereby acquiring continuous knowledge stretching from the basics to the expert level.
Students will be able to do the following by taking this course.
1) understand and explain the different types and features of controlled step-growth polymerization and polymer reactions.
2) explain the principle and examples of cutting edge controlled step-growth polymerization.

Students' knowledge of polymer reactions and their ability to apply them to problems will be assessed.
Final report 70-80% and exercise problems 20-30%.
[Important] Students must have successfully completed both Organic Chemistry I-IV and Polymer Chemistry I-IV or have equivalent knowledge.
The quiz given in the first lecture will also be taken into account for the final grade.
