この授業はTOEFLの概要を知っている学生あるいは受験したことがある学生向けの授業である。授業では英語の四技能のうち、特に聴解力と発話力の向上のための訓練を行う。短期留学に必要な語彙と一般教養科目のコンテンツを理解するための専門語彙(基礎的レベル)を学びスコアアップを目指す。
200語~400語程度のスピーチや会話を聞き、その概要を追うことができる。またそれの内容について、要点だけではなく概要を口頭で明晰に説明することができる。

This online seminar aims to develop students’ communication skills, particularly listening and speaking, in a way that is applicable to the TOEFL iBT test. The course is especially aimed at students who have taken the test before and want to improve their score.
Each class will begin with sample listening and speaking exercises from the textbook, followed by discussions and/or debates on various timely issues based on audio lectures, news clips, and documentaries. In this interactive class, students will then actively participate in Zoom breakout rooms, either in pairs or larger groups (maximum 3 or 4). There may be occasional quizzes to ascertain comprehension and help students expand their vocabulary.
Besides training for TOEFL, students will also develop intercultural competence and broaden their knowledge of contemporary issues.
