この授業はTOEFLをまったく知らないあるいは受験したことがない学生向けのTOEFL入門の授業である。英語の四技能のうち、特に聴解力と発話力の基礎力を磨きながら、TOEFLのテスト形式になれることを目指す。また短期留学に必要な基礎的な語彙を学ぶ。
・TOEFLの出題形式や内容に親しむこと。
・クラス内でのペアワークやグループワークを通して聴解力と発話力の向上させること。
・短いスピーチや会話を聴き、要点を理解したうえでその要点を短文で要約し英語を使って表現することができること。

This online seminar aims to develop students’ communication skills, particularly listening and speaking, in a way that is applicable to the TOEFL iBT test. The course is especially aimed at students who are relatively new to the test.
Each class will begin with sample listening and speaking exercises from the textbook, followed by discussions and/or debates on various timely issues based on audio lectures, news clips, and documentaries. In this interactive class, students will then actively participate in Zoom breakout rooms, either in pairs or larger groups (maximum 3 or 4). There may be occasional quizzes to ascertain comprehension and help students expand their vocabulary.
Besides training for TOEFL, students will also develop intercultural competence and broaden their knowledge of contemporary issues.
