講義の概要とねらい
すべての「英語スピーキング演習」の科目は、その名のとおり、学生の話す力を伸ばすことを目標としている。発表以外の場においては、効果的に話すためには効果的に聞くことも必要となることから、これらの科目の授業や宿題においては、互いに話し合う練習やきちんと聞く練習を行う
学士課程３００番台の選択科目である「英語スピーキング演習第十一」は、テレビのニュースの抜粋を見て進んだレベルでの理解ができること、またペアや小さいグループでの討論の中でニュースの内容について口頭で反応できることに、特に焦点を置く。また、教科書や授業で導入された単語や文法が使えるようにすることも、授業の目標のひとつである。
到達目標
この授業科目を履修することにより、学生は、初めて見る短いニュースについてその主なポイントを記憶にとどめ、自信を持ってそれについて級友や教員と話し合うことができるようになる。

授業の進め方
This is designed to be a student centered/interactive course with students discussing and debating on various topics. New vocabulary and grammar will be routinely introduced to enable students to articulate ideas more clearly and to facilitate discussion.
