講義の概要とねらい
この授業はTOEFLの概要を知っている学生あるいは受験したことがある学生向けの授業である。授業では英語の四技能のうち、特に聴解力と発話力の向上のための訓練を行う。短期留学に必要な語彙と一般教養科目のコンテンツを理解するための専門語彙（基礎的レベル）を学びスコアアップを目指す。
到達目標
200語～400語程度のスピーチや会話を聞き、その概要を追うことができる。またそれの内容について、要点だけではなく概要を口頭で明晰に説明することができる。
Students listen to a middle-length speech and conversation (ex. 200-400 words) and are able to grasp its main content. They can explain not only main points but more detailed content of listening materials.

授業の進め方
This course is designed to help students develop communication skills that are applicable to the TOEFL iBT test. The class is highly interactive. Each week, we will explore a different issue using audio lectures (TOEFL) and discussions. In addition, there will be quizzes that are designed to help students expand their academic vocabulary. Throughout the course, students will also learn to develop intercultural competence, one of the most important skills needed to be able to collaborate with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

成績評価の基準及び方法
The grade for the quarter will be determined as follows:
Class participation: 35% (Evaluation will be based on attitude, contribution, improvement, and a willingness to learn.)
Vocabulary quizzes: 25%
Exam: 40%
