講義の概要とねらい

TOEFLのReadingとWritingの各セクションの試験形式・内容に留意しつつ、英語力を向上させる。

TOEFLのReading SectionおよびWriting Sectionの得点を向上させると共に、英語圏の大学で教育を受けるのに必要な英語力を身につけることを目指す。

到達目標

この授業科目は、次のような知識や能力を身につけることを目指す。
・readingおよびwriting セクションを中心にTOEFLテストがどのようなもので、好成績を残すにはどのように取り組めば良いかを理解する。
・学問分野における英語の知識を広げると共に、英語の全般的なreadingとwritingの力を身につける。

授業の進め方

We will practise the skills needed to succeed at the six questions in the writing section of the TOEFL iBT. We will work through the latter 4 chapters of the textbook with plenty of time for question and answer, structured and free practice. Students are encouraged to bring a laptop to each class and to use a google drive account as we will be sharing work together.

An English-English dictionary. Online versions are acceptable.

成績評価の基準及び方法

Assessment will be 80 percent on a TOEFL style question on the final day of the course and 20 percent on effort and participation in class.
