この授業はすでにTOEFLについて学んだことがあり長期留学のためにスコアアップを目指している学生向けの授業である。授業では英語の四技能のうち、特に聴解力と発話力の向上のための訓練を行う。長期留学に必要な英語力(大学学部生の一般教養科目レベルのコンテンツを英語できいて講義ノートを取り、ゼミで発表したり意見を述べたりすることができる)の専門的支障のない程度の語彙力とスコアを獲得を目指す。
TOEFLの設問を理解したうえで講義や会話の概要を追い、その内容の要点と概要を口頭で明晰に説明することができること。
教室内の学生からの質問に明晰に答えられること。
ノートの取り方、プレゼンテーションやディベートの仕方を学び、それを口頭や筆記表現に応用することができること。

Students should prepare each week's assigned Listening chapter in the textbook as well as any Speaking tasks assigned in advance of the class. The materials of the week’s chapter will be explained by the instructor where necessary, but the core activities in class will be intensive listening and speaking practice with the instructor checking and giving feedback on individuals' work.
