Course description and aims

In this course and the course, 'Graphic Science and Computer Graphics 2', students learn various methods to express three-dimensional solid figures, and fundamental principle of computer graphics. After explanation by a lecture, they perform free hand drawing or practices with personal computers and then understand expression of three-dimensional solid figures and its application to engineering analyses. Especially in this course 2, students learn methods to express three-dimensional solid figures with with polyhedron or interpolating functions, coordinate transformation and light and shadow with solid figures.

Student learning outcomes

Students can understand various method to express three-dimensional solid figures and can apply them to the graphic processing such as coordinate transformation and light and shadow with solid figures.

Keywords

Three-dimensional solid figure, Polyhedron, Interpolation function, Coordinate transformation, Deformation, Light and shadow with solid figure

Competencies that will be developed

Specialist skills Intercultural skills Communication skills Critical thinking skills Practical and/or problem-solving skills

Class flow

Lectures and practices of free hand drawing or practices with computer practices

Out-of-Class Study Time (Preparation and Review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Textbook(s)

A textbook, 'Graphic Science and Computer Aided Graphic Processing', or several materials will be distributed via OCW-i. This textbook will be used also in 'Graphic Science and Computer Graphics 1'. Students should download them before class.

Reference books, course materials, etc.

Some reference books may be introduced in lectures.

Assessment criteria and methods

Students' course scores are determined based on assignments (70%) and the final report (30%).
