In this course and the following course, 'Graphic Science and Computer Graphics 2', students learn various methods to express three-dimensional solid figures, and fundamental principle of computer graphics. After explanation by a lecture, they perform free hand drawing or practices with personal computers and then understand expression of three-dimensional solid figures and its application to engineering analyses. Especially in this course 1, students learn fundamentals of projection geometry to understand three-dimensional solid figures with two-dimensional drawings, mathematical expressions of figures with equations, vectors and matrices, and derivation of line or surface of intersection between figures.

### Student learning outcomes

Students can understand the fundamentals of projection geometry and mathematical expression of three-dimensional solid figures and can apply them to the graphic processing such as derivation of line and surface of intersection between solid figures.

### Keywords

### Textbook(s)

Inoh and Koseki, "例題で学ぶ図学－第三角法による図法幾何学" is recommended. A textbook, 'Graphic Science and Computer Aided Graphic Processing', or several materials will be distributed via OCW-i. This textbook will be used also in 'Graphic Science and Computer Graphics 2'. Students should download them before class. A compass and a triangle ruler are needed.

### Reference books, course materials, etc.

Some reference books may be introduced in lectures.

### Assessment criteria and methods

Students' course scores are determined based on small tests (40%) and the homework (60%).
