Course description and aims

The course teaches global environmental issues, safety science, risk assessment for chemical hazards, environmental policy, environmental economics, environmental assessment, resources and waste, recycling-oriented society, energy problems, and sustainable society.

This will allow students understand safety and environmental issues in the world.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will:
1) Understand current global environmental issues
2) Explain notion of safety and risk
3) Understand potential risk of chemicals
4) Explain how to perform environmental assessment
5) Explain notion of recycling-oriented society and sustainable society
6) Know current topics on science and technology considering environmental safety

Class flow

At the each class, a topic in course schedule is introduced by a lecturer for 80 min. Towards the end of class (last 10 min), students are given exercise problems related to the lecture given that day. Attendance is taken in every class.
