Course description and aims

Sustainable Development has been secured by various technologies. In the course of Sustainable Engineering Technology, leading engineers and researchers will give lectures on specific areas which are crucial for sustainable development, such as, energy and environment, material production, and information technology. In addition to the lectures, students will conduct group work for a specific topic which is related to the theme of the year. The accomplishment of the group work will be presented in a seminar (Satellite Seminar).
Through lectures, group work, and seminars with the students of different disciplines, this course aims to train students as “highly educated, internationalized engineers” having a wide spectrum of technical knowledge from basics to their applications.

Student learning outcomes

Through the lectures and the group work and seminar with the students of different disciplines, the students will learn about the related special areas on sustainable engineering and their relation to own specialty, and experience the interdisciplinary collaborative work for the specific projects.

Class flow

In the first half of this course, the students have lectures by leading engineers and researchers. At the end of each lecture, the students should answer and submit a short test. In the second half, the students are divided into groups of about six students each, and they conduct the group work for a specific topic which is related to the theme of the year. The group work will be presented at a seminar (Satellite Seminar). The participation of Satellite Seminar is compulsory.
