This lecture focuses on the essential part of "who, what, and how to convey", and practically considers the functions of media, the role of editing, and the value of design. This year, we will explore the characteristics of various media with the keyword "margin". The purpose of this lecture is to learn how to "edit" information, how to "design" multiple elements, and how to understand "media" as a communication tool to others.

|Mr Kawasaki is involved in publishing business not only as an editorial designer but as a writer and a comic artist. He teaches the characteristics of various media and how to explore them from his own experiences and perspectives.|

This course is divided into two phases: 1) Finding problems through lectures. 2) Critiquing presentations of proposals. Each session is three hours in length.

|Class 1||Margin design in text 12/1 (Tue) 18:05～21:05||What is design? What is a margin? We will examine them mainly from the viewpoint of editorial design in books and documents, and to explore the current meaning of design.|
|Class 2||Margin design in video 12/8 (Tue) 18:05～21:05||What is a margin in video expression? We will discuss the significance of design in a linear space while observing actual examples.|
|Class 3||Margin design in the body 12/15 (Tue) 18:05～21:05||Where is the margin worth? We will think about the possibilities of human-centered design while discovering various designs in everyday life.|
|Class 4||Let's design the margin: Planning 12/22 (Tue) 18:05～21:05||Based on the previous three lectures, each student will think about a plan with the theme of "margins and design".|
|Class 5||Let's design the margins: Production 1/12 (Tue) 18:05～21:05||We will think about the process to actually realize it based on the plan devised in the previous session.|
|Class 6||Let's design the margins: Feedback 1/19 (Tue) 18:05～21:05||Feedback on the finished product.The evaluation result becomes course final grade.|
