Course description and aims

This course focuses on measurements of health-related indexes of yourself, and covers the fundamentals of health sciences.
Students will measure and observe physiological and psychological responses to physical exercise.
The approaches/methods are not only useful for health sciences, but is applicable to study disciplines dealing with humans (e.g., mechanical engineering, life science) .

Student learning outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) acquire the ability to assess health-related indexes in humans, by using physiology, biomechanics and psychology.
2) have an understanding of background mechanisms of health.

Keywords

physiology, biomechanics, psychology

Competencies that will be developed

Specialist skills Intercultural skills Communication skills Critical thinking skills Practical and/or problem-solving skills

Class flow

In each class, students measure several indexes or practice, and submit report of each topic.
Attendance is taken in every class.
