Course description and aims

This course provides a series of classes by lecturers who are active at the forefront of various professional fields, such as entrepreneurs, large corporations, management consultants, foreign-affiliated companies, and public institutions, giving an overview of their careers, introducing major businesses they have been involved in, what impressed them about those businesses, their experiences overcoming difficulties, and the reasons they decided to pursue careers or major career turning points.

The aim of this course is for students to find role models for their own future career development from the content of the classes, regardless of whether the lecturers' field is related to the students' field of study or interest, and to find references and lessons from their own perspectives. Therefore, it is important for students to actively ask questions to the lecturers and be motivated to utilize the classes for their own career development, not just to passively listen to the classes.

This course will be offered in 3Q and 4Q respectively. Since the lecturers are basically different from each other, students are recommended to check the lists of lecturers and take their own study plans in consideration.

The name of this course is changed from "Smart Business Career Development," which was offered in AY2021.

Class flow

This course provides a series of classes by lecturers with extensive experience in a variety of fields.

This course is a real-time, interactive, and direct-teaching live class via ZOOM. Therefore, students are required to attend all classes in real time.

The following measures will be taken to ensure the quality of online lectures.
1.Use slides with examples and charts so that students can maintain their concentration.
2.Ask students to share their ideas by such means as actively using the voting function of ZOOM and setting a time for verbal or chat questions enable them to keep their concentration and better understand the ideas of other students in the classes.
3.Give an assignment to students in each class, and they are required to prepare and submit a report. The report assignment is designed for students to think about their own future career development based on the content of the class, so that the students will not only deeply understand the content, but also improve their report writing skills, and furthermore, the report can be used as a memorandum that can be reread in the future to help them build their careers.
4.Pick up the contents of the reports submitted by the students that would be helpful for them to share, and provide feedback to the students at a later date, with comments by the lecturers, if necessary, so that they can understand what other students who listened to the same classes thought, and thus obtain even deeper learning effects.
