As lectures are given in Japanese in this course, the ability to understand Japanese used in daily conversation is essential. This course aims to provide master's degree students with a base for thinking about their future career. Especially the importance to consider the careers in the global scale is emphasized. Lectures on foreign-affiliated companies will also be given as examples of global career situations. It is important for both students advancing on to the doctoral degree program and students who will join industry to imagine their future career, position themselves within that process, and consider the next step. Students will begin with considering the meaning of PhDs and masters in a global society of researchers and engineers under real global business situations. In addition, students will have the opportunity to learn about the approach to qualifications and competence required of researchers and engineers in academia and industry, as well as consider a future career suitable to themselves. Furthermore, the instructor will lecture on topics for which scarce information is available to students, such as the role of technology in industry, the full picture of what researchers and engineers do, HR management and the type of people sought in companies. On the other hand, the instructor will also touch on specifics of the job hunt as the lecture progresses.

・The instructor will use PowerPoint in each lecture, make use of tables and charts with many examples, and advance the lecture in an easy-to-understand way.
In addition, an assignment will be given at the end of every class to encourage students to deepen their understanding of key lecture points.
