Course description and aims

As a domestic training course within the Academic Leader Program (ALP), this course encourages students to undertake practical training in off-campus research activities and various other opportunities. One, two, or four credit(s) will be granted for conducting practical research training at a domestic university, a governmental research institution like RIKEN and AIST, or equivalent for two weeks or more under the guidance of their supervisor professor (Lab.'s Sensei). It should be noted that the domestic university or the governmental research institution has already made an internship contract with, or has been specially approved by, Tokyo Tech. Participation in domestic conferences, schools, etc. may be included in the training. It should be noted that this course cannot be considered as a part of a joint research program between the research institution at which a student is going to stay and the research laboratory to which the student belongs. The count of the credits depends on the following training terms. One credit is in the case of the training term ranging from two weeks to less than one month. Two credits are in the case of ranging from more than one month to less than three months. Four credits are in the case of ranging to more than three months.
Furthermore, it aims to get the skills of building new networking or relationships between researchers. In addition, this lecture is also available in English only when training is conducted in English.

Student learning outcomes

The goal of this course is to have students, who will work for academia in the near future, get the skills and literacy indispensable for doing research inside Japan and building new networking or relationships between researchers.

Class flow

Students taking this course should submit a "domestic training application form" to the ALP curriculum committee after consulting well with the academic advisor, and receive travel approval. Within two weeks of completing the travel, a training report should be submitted to the ALP curriculum committee.
Please note that one-time domestic training can be registered ONLY for one regular subject. Duplicated enrollment with other subjects such as seminars is not allowed.
