The course aims to cultivate students' practical communication skills focusing on effective writing and speaking about scientific topics. It introduces students on how to effectively communicate their research and it also introduces different ways to present scientific data into various audience.
The course is intended to complement the more extended Technical Discussion (TD) and Technical Writing (TW) classes. Some of the topics covered by Scientific Communications (SC) are introductory and some are advanced with respect to TD and TW, so that both students who have attended or will attend TD and TW can benefit from taking SC.
By the end of the course, students will be able to
- get accustomed with reading scientific papers.
- learn effective ways in reporting scientific data.
- confidently and effectively connect with the audience.
- address various types of audience.
scientific reporting; scientific paper; written communication; oral communication
