Course description and aims

In this lesson, discussion about appropriate choice of informatics education subject according to learners’ situations of each school as well as connection to higher education and life-long education based on understanding of differences between compulsory subject area “Information Study” and vocational subject area “Information” as well as ICT technology subject in each vocational subject area. Moreover, curriculum configuration and methods of instruction of vocational subject area “Information” are also taken up.

Student learning outcomes

Based on an understanding of difference between ideal education of “Information Study” learned in “Studies on Method of Information Study I, II, and III” and the actual lessons performed in each school that each student observed or experienced as a (student) teacher, students are required to be able to consider and propose innovative instructions and strategies of lesson improvement of “Information Study” from various viewpoints and act as practitioners.

Class flow

This course consists of three 4-hour lessons and one 3-hour lesson. Students are required to complete each homework assignment concerned with the topic of the next class. Based on the discussion of the homework report, students are required to finalize each report in the class.

Assessment criteria and methods

・Students will be assessed based on ratio of attendance, exercises in the classes, homework exercises.
・Full attendance and completion of all homework exercises are compulsory.

Prerequisites (i.e., required knowledge, skills, courses, etc.)

・Students are required to earn every credit (or have successfully finished in the same term) for related courses of LAT.
・Students are required to earn more than 20 credits of related courses certified as “Information Study” with including all compulsory courses.
・Students who do not intend to take teacher’s license under Table-4 related to Article VI-3 of Law of Teacher’s License cannot take this course.
・Students are required to send an application e-mail that includes ID, name, major program, and e-mail address to following contact address until required date announced by bulletin board and Web page of Teacher Promotion Program other than the formal application to university office.
・Part-time students who can take this course are only graduates of Tokyo Tech.
・Students who have already taken a credit of a similar course cannot take this course.
