Course description and aims

This course aims to learn the basics of how to tell a reason. Students will be requested to pick up a thing which you like most, write a short essay on it, and present your peers how much you like it with good reasons.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to acquire the basics of 1) writing a short essay, 2) learning Japanese idiomatic expressions, and 3) remembering all of the basic kun'yomi kanji.

Class flow

We will ask students to discuss each topic in a small group. The course will start with a lecture, followed by pair work. Students will make a presentation of the discussion outcome.

Class 2 Learn how to tell a reason. Collect what kinds of expression which indicate an apparent reason.
Class 3 Pick up your favorite thing for the final presentation. Consider the reason why you like your favorite thing. If there is a reason for it, tell the reason.
Class 4 Make a well-structured paragraph. Consider how you construct a paragraph in which you clearly insist on the reason why you like it

Out-of-Class Study Time (Preparation and Review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
