Course description and aims

The aim of this course is to acquire advanced academic Japanese skills. specifically, you will learn how to effectively present your research to students who are not specialized in your field.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to acquire a basic skill which allows you to explain a theory to scientists who are out of your field.

Class flow

Class will be conducted with pairs or small groups. Class will start with lecture, followed by pair work. Students will make a presentation of the discussion outcome.

Class 2 Consider how to facilitate a technical term. Summarize how to facilitate a technical term and share it with your peer.
Class 3 Consider how to explain something which is complicated in a nutshell. Participate in a seminar and analyze what should be improved.
Class 4 Seminar 1 Participate in a seminar and analyze what should be improved.
Class 5 Seminar 2 Participate in a seminar and analyze what should be improved.
Class 6 Seminar 3 Participate in a seminar and analyze what should be improved.
Class 7 Feedback. Summarize what you should improve based on your feedback report.
Class 8 Your expression is complicated? Or your idea is complicated? Consider what is the significance of communication skill which allows you to tell your research to others who are out of your field.
