Course description and aims

This class aims to improve listening and presentation skills in Japanese, and increase vocabulary for university life.
Listening: Understand the TV news, searching for the keywords. Discuss the contents of the news. Summarize the news or write your opinion about the news in each class.
Mini-speech/presentation: Make a presentation "My news", using the expressions and the structure of TV news.
Kanji: Two lessons will be introduced from the intermediate kanji textbook and a small quiz is given in the next class. (minimum pass mark 80%, if you fail, you must take a make-up exam.)

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) understand the TV news and summarize the content, 2) explain your opinion about the news, 3) acquire the vocabulary for university life.

Class flow

In each class students will watch the TV news and discuss about the contents. At the end of the class, it is required to write a summary or an opinion.
Every lesson there is a kanji quiz, and students should prepare for the quiz.
