Course description and aims

"Chinese: Basic Course" is intended for students who have no knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. The course will begin with the exercise of the Chinese Pinyin Romanization system: tones, rules of phonetic spelling, and pronunciation drill. We also learn simple conversation and basic grammar, to build up rudimentary communication ability of Chinese. As the first step, "beginner's class 1" will focus on the Chinese Pinyin Romanization system, greetings, and basic construction of the sentence

Student learning outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to
1 Acquire pronunciation of Chinese, Pinyin Romanization system,
2 Exchange greetings and introduce himself in Chinese.
3. Understand the constitution of the sentence and make rudimentary sentences in Chinese.
