Course description and aims

This seminar is for students who want to develop more of their German conversation skills, and also read slightly longer texts and learn some writing composition skills. It is also suitable for those who wish to study at a university in Germany, and teaches them the necessary language skills to cope with everyday living. Grammar skills will be developed along with the topics. The details of the course content are subject to change as the level will be adjusted to match the abilities of the students.

Student learning outcomes

At the end of the course the students will be able to communicate in everyday situations, understand information, have learned reading strategies, write notes, emails, letters and short texts.

Class flow

Through various materials for conversation, reading, writing and listening on topics about German culture and society, students train to grasp German sentences and express their opinions.

The students will be assessed depending on their performance during class, and by one written test at the end of the semester.

Prerequisites (i.e., required knowledge, skills, courses, etc.)

Students are required to have the knowledge of German grammar and basic skill of German conversation. The completion in the "German: Basic Course 1-4" and the completion or at least simultaneous enrollment in “German Conversation Basic Course:1~4” are desirable.
